We would like to introduce a case study involving measurements taken with a 3D laser scanner. To carry out reinforcement work on the columns of a steel mill building, we received a request from a client who wanted to analyze the gap dimensions between the columns and the ceiling trusses without stopping the operating overhead crane, in order to consider the installation of temporary scaffolding. Our company conducts 3D measurements using various image data tailored to specific applications, ranging from digital cameras, UAVs and aerial photography, to satellite imagery. High-resolution 3D data can be obtained from ground photographs and photos taken with UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles, drones), while aerial photographs and satellite images can be used to create maps and 3D terrain models that cover larger areas.
